HOW TO PEP UP YOUR SKIN ON A HANGOVER

Oh, hello there – it’s been a while since I last put my fingertips to the keyboard (incoming 21st century). I hope that you are all keeping well and enjoying the cooler temperatures - did anyone else melt during July and August?

As you may or may not have seen, I’ve been exploring the medium of vlogging lately – an increasingly popular alternative to blog writing. Contrary to belief, this actually takes a lot more investment than some may think – especially when being on camera doesn’t come naturally to me and I seem to have an addiction to the filler word “um”. That being said, I’m really enjoying teaching myself the art of video editing and sharing my hobbies and explorations with my followers – shout out to you all for persevering with my slight awkwardness and no make-up shots.

On top of my millennial side-project, work has also been getting busier in the lead-up to Christmas – so Thursday, Friday (and sometimes Saturday) drinking escapism has become a bit too familiar. Yes, espresso martinis make you feel like you can do 100 dabs on a night out (that’s the dance move, yeah) – but they also sap the life and soul out of your complexion the next day. Unfortunately, I wasn’t born with the unworldly looks of Kendall Jenner – so, an emergency skincare toolkit has proven to be a bit of a God send for those days where I’m feeling slightly fragile. With that in mind, here are some of the beauty products that have been positively excellent at resurrecting my face in dire times of need.

WILDSOURCE CLEANSING OIL

Usually when I stumble in from a night out, I can very easily talk myself out of taking off my make-up (despicable, I know) – which is why this Cleansing Oil form Wildsource feels so amazing on my skin the next morning. I love using cleansing oils as they do a great job lift excess grime, whilst giving your skin a good massage – boosting the circulation and leaving with it a radiant complexion. Infused with anti-inflammatory Calendula and nutrient-rich Baobab, this natural elixir will feed your skin whilst acting as a brilliant first-step in your post-drinking routine.

WILDSOURCE RADIANCE MASK

After I’ve removed all of last night’s make-up, I opt for the detoxifying Wildsource Radiance Mask to draw out any excess impurities (cocktails) from my skin. This clay-based formula acts as a “deep-clean” to the outer layer of the dermis, gently exfoliating any dry or dead skin cells – leaving a smoother and brighter complexion.

THE ORDINARY HYALURONIC ACID

Aside from drinking water, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid is another great way of re-hydrating the skin after a night of indulgences. Hyaluronic acid works by attracting more than 1000x its weight in water to the skin, plumping up the cells and eradicating that “dull” appearance. This lightweight serum is the perfect base before applying your oil or moisturiser.

TRUE SKINCARE BALANCING SAFFLOWER & BASIL FACIAL OIL

The last piece in this skincare puzzle, or product should I say, is the gorgeous Balancing Safflower & Basil Facial Oil by True Skincare. Modest in price but over-delivering in substance, this natural powerhouse of certified organic botanicals sure packs a punch of nutrients that your skin will love when its out of sort. I add a three drops to my fingers tips and gently press into the skin for a soft and dewy finish.
