It’s official – spring is here, which means it’s time to wave goodbye to shorter days and house hibernation and welcome back balmy weekends drinking dry our local beer gardens. Over the last couple of weeks we’ve had our first taste (or amuse bouche rather) of warmer weather, stirring excitement for the highly anticipated summer months to grace us after a long hiatus. Naturally, this weather change brings with it a need (or lust) for a wardrobe update – which is why STRIPD has once again teamed up with the always-stylish clothing and lifestyle brand Lorna Ruby to showcase some key SS17 pieces you should be adding to your collection this season.

With the British weather always unpredictable at this time of year, dressing for the office can prove somewhat of a struggle. Dodgy internal climates are determined by either the lack of open windows, or the over-blasting of air-conditioned machines – so the question is, how do you get it right? Firstly, try and find pieces that cover both grounds. Shirt-dresses are great for this as they cover the arms (ideal), fall below the knee (appropriate) and cinch at the waist (flattering). Dependent on your work dress code, you can pair with smart flats or lace-up pumps – nailing the athleisure / sports-luxe trend perfectly.

The Blue Shirt Shop Shirt-dress - £165

Veja Pastel Trainer - £ 89

For days when we manage to escape the confinements of work attire, try to explore different styles and looks that you wouldn’t usually be brave enough to sport to the office. If you’ve been restricted to the same smart shirts and unflattering trousers all week, come Friday it’s natural you’ll be ready for change (no pun intended). For this time of year, choose pieces you can have fun with, but most importantly – are comfortable. Light-fitting trousers offer a relaxed alternative to heavy denim jeans and can be easily teamed with a blouse, tee, flat or heel depending on the occasion. Additionally, don’t shy away from colour – play around with bright-toned accents and accessories to add a flair of Tropicana cool to a seemingly understated outfit.

Maison Labiche ‘Blondie’ Top - £62

Sol sana Black Leather Slide - £85

Lorna Ruby Metallic Clutch - £24

Le Specs Sunglasses - £40

With hotter evenings come an abundance of alfresco activities – heavier fabrics and winter coats get the boot, welcoming a range of flattering cuts and shorter lengths. Showcase your post vitamin D glow with feminine off the shoulder tops and dresses, opting for a longer sleeve to see you through the cooler parts of the evening. Continue the 80’s inspiration with culottes and flared jeans, a stylish and easy way to show off a pair of brightly coloured mules or lace-up heels.

Selected Femme Off-Shoulder Top - £ 55

Selected Femme Cullotte Jean - £65

Sol Sana Tina Mule in 'Flame' - £145

So whether you’re looking to pep up your accessory drawer or revamp your wardrobe, there’s plenty of pieces to add a spring to your fashionable step this season – just be sure to shop on payday, it’s guaranteed you’ll be lusting over more than one thing.
